Koenigsegg Jesko sets a new lap record at Gotland Ring

The Koenigsegg Jesko has set a new lap record at Gotland Ring. The hypercar completed the lap in 2 min 56.97 seconds, beating the previous record of 3 min 04.83 seconds set by a Porsche 911 GT3 RS MR.

The Gotland Ring is one of the longer tracks in Europe. At 7.3 km, it isn’t as long as the Nurburgring but poses similar challenges to the Nordschleife. It has several jumps and undulations but is wider and a lot smoother.

The lap record was attempted in September this year when the ambient temperature was 18°C. The car was running on 93-octane. Apparently, the Jesko was at the racetrack for testing and marketing activities and the company had no plans to set a lap record. It is also said that test driver Niklas Lilia was only pushing the car to around 90% of its potential during this lap.

The Koenigsegg Jesko is powered by a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that puts out 1280 hp (1600 hp on E85) and 1106 lb-ft of max torque. The engine is hooked to a 9-speed multi-clutch transmission, which Koenigsegg refers to as the Light Speed Transmission or LST.
