Jensen is using its track-focused Interceptor GTX as a preview of something rather different: a road-going grand tourer aimed at the likes of Aston Martin DB12 and Bentley Continental GT.
The track car will also serve another purpose. Jensen plans to use it to gauge customer interest before moving ahead with the road-going Interceptor. Unlike the two-seat GTX, the production road car will feature four seats and four doors.
Jensen says the road version will be positioned as a luxury GT rather than an outright track machine, putting it firmly in Aston Martin and Bentley territory. It is expected to be priced below the track-focused version, although final pricing and production numbers have not been confirmed.
The Jensen Interceptor GTX will use a 6.8L supercharged V8 that will make 900 hp, but it can be tuned later to develop as high as 1200 hp. Mated to this powerful engine will be a 6-speed sequential manual gearbox with both paddle and central-stick shifters.
