It has been almost a year since JAS Motorsport revealed images of the Honda NSX restomod they had been working on. It’s called the JAS Tensei, and this is what the final production version looks like.

Designed by Pininfarina, the JAS Tensei retains the characteristic styling of the original, but more importantly, it still has pop-up headlights. The front bumper has been reworked and now has an integrated splitter and LED DRLs. The car gets wider fenders, while the side vents have been reworked for a cleaner look. The Y-spoke wheels are also unique.

In the rear is a familiar L-shaped fascia with retro-style LED taillights, featuring the ‘JAS’ logo in the centre, and a rear spoiler, which blends neatly with the bodywork.

JAS has teamed up with JUDD Power for the engine. The original 3.0-liter V6 has been bored out to 3.4-liters. It also gets a new short-stroke steel crank, lightweight alloy heads, and titanium valves. The VTEC has been swapped with a fixed-timing racing valvetrain and individual throttle bodies, which allow the naturally aspirated engine to rev to 8,500 rpm and deliver 414 hp.

All that power is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 6-speed gearbox and a limited-slip differential. JAS hasn’t shared the performance stats, but we do know that the car weighs just 1250 kg, thanks to the carbon fibre body panels.

JAS Motorsport is building only 35 examples of the Tensei. Prices start at just over $1 million.
