Jaguar has finally given a name to its 1000 hp electric GT. The company has officially announced that it is going to call its upcoming EV the Type 01.
Jaguar’s electric GT was codenamed X900, and up until now, it was known as the Type 00. But moving forward, it will be referred to as the Jaguar Type 01.
Jaguar has not picked up this name at random. It has 3 significant elements. The “Type” prefix points to the legendary cars of the past, such as the D-Type, E-Type, and F-Type. The “0” represents the zero-emissions powertrain of the car. And the “1” means the first model belonging to the brand’s new era.
The Jaguar Type 01 is slated to be made available in the first half of 2027. It is based on the Jaguar Electric Architecture and will come equipped with a 120 kWh battery pack that will offer a range of over 400 miles. And the 3 electric motors will produce 1000 bhp and 959 lb ft of torque.
