How much power does the McLaren 765LT actually make?

You often see automakers release conservative performance figures, especially when it comes to supercars. With the McLaren 765LT, you get what it says on the sticker.

Brooks from Dragtimes took his brand new 765LT to a dyno to find how much power a stock 765LT makes over a 720S. Well, the results surprised everyone in the room.

According to the official brochure, the 4.0-liter, twin-turbo V8 that puts out 755 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The dyno registered a peak output of approximately 770 hp and 597 lb-ft. Taking into consideration about a 13% driveline loss, this would be around 885 hp at the crank. On the first run, it put down exactly 765 hp at the wheels, which is interesting.

Hennessey Performance have also been playing around with a 765LT lately. They too hooked up the car to the dyno recently and the results were quite similar. Down in Texas, the team recorded 780 hp on 93-octane fuel. Speaking of which, Brooks had put 100-octane fuel in his car before the dyno run.
