Hennessey Mustang Shelby GT500 takes down a 2023 Corvette Z06

Hennessey Performance recently lined up its Mustang Shelby GT500 alongside a 2023 Corvette Z06 for a roll race. One would think that the Z06, with its slippery body and lightweight construction, would trump the muscle car. However, that wasn’t the case.

Given the fact that this was no ordinary Shelby GT500, the Corvette Z06 had no chance of beating it to the line. This Hennessey-tuned monster had the Venom 1200 upgrade package. It includes a hand-built 5.2-liter supercharged V8 boosted to a tire-shredding 1188 hp @ 7600 rpm and 902 lb-ft @ 5200 rpm.

The Venom 1200 Shelby GT500 features an upgraded supercharger, which is now a 3.8-liter unit, a high-flow induction system, high-flow injectors and an air / oil separation system. In addition, fittings, lines, belts, and tensioners have also been upgraded.

With only 66 units being built, the Venom 1200 is a rare upgrade offered by Hennessey.
