Ford Focus ST seen on track. No sign of Focus RS yet

Ford Focus ST

Autocar’s Steve Sutcliffe went to Castle Combe to drive the Ford Focus ST estate. Now you would think, a diesel estate on a race track? Yes, that sounds odd but the estate is powered by a stonking great 2.0-liter oil burner that puts out 182 hp and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque.

To put things in perspective, Ford sent out a Focus ST hatchback behind the estate as Steve drove around the race track. The Focus ST petrol powered hot hatchback has more power than the diesel estate but less torque. With a 2 sec head-start see how the economical family car keeps ahead of the sporty Focus ST hatch.

In other news, there’s still no sign of the Ford Focus RS. We were expecting it to be unveiled at Detroit but it wasn’t to be. We are waiting for an official announcement on same and we shall keep you posted. In the mean time, enjoy the video of the twin Focus STs being thrashed around a race track.
