First production Ford Mustang Dark Horse sells for $375,000

The first production Ford Mustang Dark Horse was sold at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Auction on January 27. The car fetched $375,000, which will be donated to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) charity organization.

The Mustang Dark Horse VIN 001 is finished in Blue Ember Metallic, with a contrasting black roof and Notorious Blue brake calipers. It has a Deep Indigo interior and black Recaro seats with blue accents.

Powering the Mustang Dark Horse is Ford’s 4th-gen 5.0-liter Coyote V8 that puts out 500 hp and 418 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

This car is also equipped with the Handling package, which comes with a bespoke suspension setup with magnetic dampers, 19-inch wheels, front tow hooks and a rear spoiler with a gurney flap.
