Ferrari SF90 Stradale & SF90 Spider recalled over airbag issue

Ferrari has announced a safety recall of its flagship mid-engined supercar, the SF90 Stradale, over an airbag issue.

According to the company, the issue is related to the passenger-side airbag. It was found that when a child seat is installed, the airbag could impact it when deployed. 13 vehicles manufactured between 2021 and 2023 have been affected by this issue. These include both the SF90 Stradale and SF90 Spider models.

Ferrari has notified the owners of the affected cars to bring their vehicles in for inspection. The company has also advised not to use child seats until the cars are inspected by the dealer.

The announcement comes at a time when Ferrari is gearing up to introduce a track-focused version of the SF90, dubbed ‘Versione Speciale’. It is expected to get updated aero along with chassis and performance upgrades.

Currently, the SF90 packs a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine that makes 769 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. It is supported by two electric motors for a combined output of 986 hp.
