Ferrari reveals Elettrica EV platform with 1000+ hp

Ferrari today revealed details of its new pure-electric platform that will underpin its first-ever EV. The company claims that its electric car will deliver “superlative performance” and an “authentic driving experience” in line with the brand’s values.

The Ferrari Elettrica makes use of 75% recycled aluminium in its chassis and bodyshell. The architecture features short overhangs, an advanced driving position close to the front axle, and a battery integrated completely into the floorpan. The modules are installed between the front and rear axles, with 85% of them concentrated in the lowest position possible. In fact, the centre of gravity of the Elettrica is 80 mm lower than that of an equivalent ICE model.

The all-electric Ferrari is equipped with two electric axles developed in-house. The front axle delivers 282 hp and up to 3500 Nm to the wheels. It can be decoupled at any speed to transform the car to rear-wheel drive.

The rear axle delivers 831 hp and 8000 Nm in Performance Launch mode, for a combined output of over 1100 hp. Together, the two electric motors propel the Ferrari Elettrica from 0-62 mph in 2.5 seconds. The top speed is 193 mph.

The battery has also been designed and assembled in Maranello. The 122 kWh battery pack comprises 15 modules with 14 cells. It has the highest energy density of any EV at almost 195 Wh/kg. Ferrari claims a maximum range of around 530 km.
