Felicity Ace cargo ship carrying supercars sinks

Lamborghinis and Porsches onboard a cargo ship bound for the United States is now at the bottom of the Atlantic ocean.

According to the latest update, the ‘Felicity Ace’ has sunk off the coast of Portugal. It is said that the vessel started listing on its starboard side while salvage crews were trying to tow it to safety.

The ship, bound for Rhode Island, had left Germany on February 10. It was carrying around 4,000 VW Group cars, including the Lamborghini Urus, Aventador and Huracan. There were Porsches, Audis and Bentleys onboard as well.

According to media reports, the incident came to light when the ship transmitted a distress signal. It is said that fire broke out in one of the cargo decks. It announced “not under command” as the bridge lost control of the vessel shortly after. The Portuguese Navy and other merchant ships in the area rushed to the scene and rescued the 22 crewmembers.

The Felicity Ace was built in 2005. It has a capacity of 17,738 tons and can carry around 4,000 vehicles. In 2019, a similar car carrier with over 4,000 vehicles onboard had capsized off the coast of Georgia.
