Exclusive! McLaren W1 first design sketch; Fresh details inside
McLaren W1 was recently showcased at a private event held in London. The next-generation hypercar from McLaren will be revealed to the public on October 6. The hype is real, and we know you can’t wait to see the P1 replacement. So, here’s a teaser.
This image, shared by a reader who prefers to remain anonymous, features a design sketch of the McLaren W1. This is the first time ever that we’ve seen the car, albeit in sketch form. Given the fact that there have been zero leaks or teasers till now, this has to be the best image of the W1 on the internet.
The W1 looks low and wide and has a new light signature. It appears to have a narrow canopy with flared haunches at the rear and massive side vents. Rumours suggest that it might get double vents up front like an F1 and a double active rear wing as well as an active front wing. The W1 will be based on a carbon fibre monocoque and feature fixed seats, moulded into the carbon tub.
Sources have also reported that the McLaren W1 is powered by an all-new high-revving V8 engine, which is paired with a Formula 1-derived hybrid system. It is said to have a combined output of 1218 ps or 1201 hp. The engine generates 1340 Nm or 988 lb-ft of torque, which enables the W1 to reach a top speed of 217 mph.
