McLaren Special Operations is set to unveil a new limited edition model at the upcoming Goodwood Festival of Speed. Rumoured to be called the 788 HS, it is a highly exclusive track-focused version of the 750S.

According to our sources, the McLaren 788 HS will be available in both Coupe and Spider body styles, with production limited to just 100 units each. We’ve also learned that the base price of the 788 HS will be around $600,000 for both the Coupe and Spider.

The 788 HS is expected to use the same lightweight carbon fibre monocoque as the 750S. The car is said to weigh around 1250 kg and will be powered by a twin-turbo V8 engine. On the 750S, this 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 delivers 730 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. The 788 HS is likely to pack 800 hp.

The 788 HS could feature a slightly modified exterior, designed for high downforce. It could be a more extreme version of the aero package we saw on the 750S Le Mans Edition, equipped with High Downforce Kit (HDK).

In 2016, McLaren had unveiled the MSO HS – a lighter, track-focused version of the 675LT.
