Chevy Corvette Z06 vs Lucid Air GT race against each other
Edmunds pitted the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 against the Lucid Air GT. And no, this is not just a straight line drag race, but a series of challenges. This also includes the U-drag competitions, which means there is a drag race with braking, a U-turn and a sprint.
On-paper spec vs reality
Coming to the numbers, the Corvette Z06 comes with a V8 motor rated at 670 HP. Meanwhile the Lucid Air comes with a whopping 819 HP and four wheel drive. This might mean that the Lucid is the clear winner, but hang on for a second. The Corvette Z06 has a faster 0-60 mph time of 2.7 seconds compared to the electric car’s 3.0 seconds.
How the race materialized
In the first race, both cars got a good start. However, the Corvette has traction issues compared to the all-wheel drive Lucid. Hence, the electric car inches ahead and sets up a several car gap.
Now, it would be game over if it was a conventional drag race, but after the braking point, Lucid struggles with its weight while the Corvette makes up the lost distance to catch up. Post the turn, the Chevy manages to get a cleaner and faster exit to cross the finish line first.
In the second run, the Corvette gets a better start as compared with the first run. Throughout, both the cars are neck-and-neck. Post the braking area, the Z06 just zooms ahead leaving behind the heavy electric Lucid in the dust.
Lucid with performance tires
After the race, both the drivers had a discussion over the tires of the cars. It was concluded that if the Lucid would be shod in performance tires, the results could be different perhaps. However, that too, would be little to reign in the track-focused Corvette Z06.
