Chevrolet Corvette C8 Stingray’s speed run on unrestricted Autobahn

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is the entry level C8 Corvette model. Despite that, the car packs in quite a punch and is priced pretty well for a car of its performance. This time around, we have the team at the AutoTopNL drive a blue coloured C8 Corvette Stingray on an unrestricted section of the German Autobahn. Here’s what happened.

C8 Corvette Stingray Speed Run

Now, do note that the Autobahn is a public road. Despite the no speed limit and access controlled nature of the highway, the road still has other cars and vehicles. Hence, the AutoTopNL team was not able to drive the Stingray flat out due to traffic. Despite that, we can see from the video that the Corvette is no slouch and comes out with a pretty good performance.

The Stingray first joins the high speed highway with a standing start. However, due to traction control or the driver lifting off, the car manages a 5-second 0-60 mph time.

The driver then proceeds to speed up and hits 165 mph on the speedo (266 kmph). Further, the car also manages a good rolling acceleration time in the 60-142 mph time. The entry level Corvette managed this in 13 seconds.

The top speed of 165 mph is certainly not the claimed top speed of the Corvette, but given the traffic conditions, it was the best that could be managed.

Powertrain of the Corvette Stingray

The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray comes with a 6.2-liter, naturally aspirated V8 motor. This engine is rated at 490 HP sock or 495 HP with the optional Z51 package. In today’s age, we see that more is better, however, even with sub-500 HP, the Stingray manages to bring a smile on the driver’s face thanks to its quick nature as well as the music by the NA V8.
