You must be quite familiar with the new Aston Martin hypercar by now. But, have you ever wondered how the AM-RB 001 aerodynamics really work? This handy video by explains just that.
Aston Martin revealed the AM-RB 001 hypercar to the world on July 5, 2016. A scaled down model of the actual car was showcased at the event. While, Adrian Newey’s team at Red Bull Racing would be still working on the car, the scale model does reveal the direction in which the team is headed.
Aerodynamics is a key element in the development of the AM-RB 001 “Nebula”. The car features an aero package that could rival a modern F1 car or an LMP1 prototype. It’s designed to produce as much downforce as possible given the limitations of a road car.
The Aston Martin AM-RB 001 is expected to boast a naturally aspirated V12 engine mated to a hybrid electric drive. Packaging would be crucial especially with such an aggressive aero configuration. The following video tries to explain the function of each aero element on the car.
