Alfa Romeo GTV could be a reality in 2026-2027

According to a media report, Alfa Romeo could consider bringing back the GTV coupe as early as 2026.  The chief designer confirmed this news who reported that work is under way behind the scenes.

Over the past 18 months, Alfa Romeo has had a good run. The company has reported good sales and the profit numbers are high as well. It is said that if this trend continues, the Italian carmaker will bring out the Alfa Romeo SZ-inspired car.

While exact details are not yet clear, Alfa Romeo could consider the Giulia coupe for this. The Italian car maker could consider both the options for naming – either a GTV or the Alfetta. That said, design boss Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos hinted that he was looking at the unique form factor of the SZ for inspiration.

Readers should not confuse the GTV with the low-volume sports car that Alfa Romeo is planning to unveil later this year. This car takes inspiration from the 1967 Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale. This Alfa Romeo is indisputably the most beautiful Alfa.

Alfa Romeo electric vehicles

The GTV could come by the time the carmaker is selling only electric vehicles. This means, the designers and engineers will have to design and incorporate a car around Alfa’s next-gen skateboard EV platform. This could lead to longer cars with a taller profile.

The design team too is likely to ace a challenge in designing such a unique vehicle on an EV-base. The Alfa Romoe SZ’s key features included its wedge profile, the square tail and the unique glass house.
