2005 Koenigsegg CCR-Lava Orange-1

Koenigsegg

A close look at the record-breaking 2005 Koenigsegg CCR

The Koenigsegg CCR was the model that put the brand on the global stage. Built in 2005, the CCR set new records for the ‘most powerful production car’ and went on to take the crown for the fastest top speed.

Last year, Nils from @ghostsquadron.koenigsegg got a chance to get up close with this Lava Orange monster. At the time, the car was with Esser Automotive in Dusseldorf, Germany. Today, this gorgeous beast (chassis no. 20) resides in Canada.

The Koenigsegg CCR is the precursor to the CCX. However, only 14 cars were produced, of which, 8 were painted in Lava Orange. More recently, the prototype Jesko featured the same shade of orange due to its historic significance.

The CCR is powered by a 4.7-liter V8 derived from Ford’s modular V8. Twin superchargers force air into the engine to develop 806 hp @ 6900 rpm and 679 lb-ft of torque @ 5700 rpm. The power is sent to the rear axle via a 6-speed manual transmission.

The CCR can accelerate from 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds. It was driven to 241 mph at the Nardo high-speed test track in Italy.
