Mercedes has issued a recall in Australia covering 192 examples of the S-Class and Maybach S-Class, built between 2022 and 2024. The issue concerns the front axle brake hoses, which could become damaged over time due to a manufacturing defect.

According to the recall notice, damaged hoses may cause brake fluid to leak, thus reducing braking performance. This could make it harder for the driver to slow down or stop the car, increasing the risk of an accident and potentially causing serious injuries.

Owners of affected vehicles will need to book an appointment with an authorised Mercedes dealership. All the necessary repairs will be handled free of charge.

A similar recall was announced in the US last month, affecting more than 30,000 S-Class models, including Maybach and AMG variants. That campaign covered certain vehicles from the 2022 to 2025 model years, built between Feb 2021 and Nov 2024.
