Mercedes-AMG has unveiled its first high-performance electric SUV. Christened as the AMG GT SUV, it shares its powertrain with the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe.

The first-ever AMG GT SUV is based on the AMG.EA platform and an 800-volt electrical architecture. It will be available in three trims: GT53 SUV, GT55 SUV, and GT63 SUV.

The entry-level GT53 SUV comes with a 106 kWh battery and up to 668 miles of range, while the GT55 and GT63 variants get a 128 kWh battery pack, offering a WLTP range of up to 700 miles.

All variants get all-wheel drive with the GT55 and GT63 trims, featuring a tri-motor setup. The base GT53 offers 536 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque and can sprint from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds. Top speed is rated at 143 mph.

The GT55 has 805 hp and 1,372 lb-ft, allowing the SUV to sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.0 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 168 mph.

The top-spec GT63 trim packs 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft. It is capable of accelerating to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds and will reach a top speed of 168 mph.

The Mercedes-AMG GT SUV features a bold and muscular design. It has a typical AMG grille with chrome elements and L-shaped headlights. The large air dam has vertical strakes and is flanked by additional cooling vents.

The electric SUV has a sculpted hood, and AMG has retained the odd slot that was first seen on the latest AMG GT 4-Door Coupe. It has a smooth shoulder line, featuring flush-fitting door handles and flared rear fenders. The rear fascia has also been borrowed from the GT 4-Door.

Inside, you get a typical AMG-style interior with a digital instrument cluster, a central touchscreen, and a third screen for the front passenger.
