The new Ford Le Mans Hypercar has reached Silverstone as development of its endurance racer moves into another important phase. The car remains heavily camouflaged, but its V8 soundtrack is already giving enthusiasts plenty to talk about.

The Silverstone outing follows a major test at Circuit Paul Ricard in France, where the prototype reportedly covered around 1,000 km (621 miles). Ford is now continuing the track testing at Silverstone.

Drivers Logan Sargeant, Matt Campbell, Tom Blomqvist, Mike Rockenfeller, Sebastian Priaulx and Nick Yelloly have all been involved in the earlier testing phases and are expected to continue with their duties at Silverstone.

The track testing will later move to Monza, Imola and Aragon before heading back to the US for testing at Circuit of the Americas and Sebring.

The Ford Le Mans Hypercar uses a heavily reworked 5.4-litre V8 based on Ford’s Coyote architecture. The race-bred engine reportedly revs to 9,000 rpm.
