Just as Bentley has taken the wraps off its all-electric Torcal, a fresh spy shot has surfaced showing Rolls-Royce’s upcoming electric SUV up close. The timing makes the potential rivalry even more interesting.
The heavily camouflaged prototype reveals an unusual split-opening bonnet, divided neatly down the centre. There’s no visible Spirit of Ecstasy on this test car. It could be hidden and pop out when requested. A radar sensor can be seen at the front for various driver-assistance functions.
With no V12 occupying the engine bay, the bonnet could instead conceal a bespoke storage compartment, potentially designed for charging cables or luggage.
Technical details remain under wraps, but reports suggest the luxury EV could feature a dual-motor setup producing more than 500 hp. Range is expected to fall somewhere between 300 and 400 miles.
Just for reference, the base variant of the Bentley Torcal makes 810 hp and 881 lb-ft of torque. It can reach 60 mph in 3.3 seconds and attain a top speed of 155 mph.
