Australia’s growing list of Chinese luxury car brands is getting another addition. Changan is bringing its premium Avatr marque to the region, led by the seriously powerful Avatr 07L electric SUV.
Pre-orders are expected to open before the end of 2026, with first customer deliveries targeted for the first half of 2027. Pricing hasn’t been announced yet, although Avatr has confirmed an 800V electrical architecture.
The five-seat Avatr 07L measures 4,910mm long and sits on a 2,990mm wheelbase. The entry-level rear-wheel-drive version uses a 305 kW (409 hp) electric motor producing 435 Nm (321 lb-ft). It offers up to 725 km (450 miles) of CLTC range and hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.9 seconds.
Things get much more interesting with the AWD model. Three electric motors produce a combined 712 kW (955 hp) and 996 Nm (735 lb-ft), enabling 0-100 km/h in just 3.7 seconds. Range stands at 650 km (404 miles).
Avatr joins an increasingly crowded field of premium Chinese brands in Australia, following Zeekr and Denza, while Hongqi is also preparing to enter the market.
