Toyota’s upcoming performance cars have been caught together on track, with the GR GT and GR GT3 prototypes spotted lapping California’s famous Laguna Seca circuit. A new video shared on social media shows both cars wearing the same colour as they push hard around the track.
Interestingly, the running order changes during the footage. The Toyota GR GT leads during the first part of the lap before the more aggressively styled GR GT3 appears ahead later on. Both cars sound suitably serious, giving us goosebumps.
The road-going GR GT is said to use a new 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with an electric motor integrated into an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. Combined output is rated at 640 hp and 627 lb ft of torque, with power sent to the rear wheels.
The GR GT3 is expected to be the more track-focused machine, distinguished by its large rear wing. It is likely to use the same V8, although its final output could differ.
Toyota is also reportedly developing an open-top GR GT, potentially using an “Aero Top” removable roof panel. The name previously appeared on the fourth-generation Supra.
