BMW may not be finished expanding its G87 M2 lineup. After the track-focused M2 CS and the all-wheel-drive M2 xDrive, reports suggest that the German automaker is now preparing one final special edition of the M2 before the platform reaches the end of its lifecycle in 2029.
As per reports, a third distinct variant will join the G87 family before production officially concludes. While official details remain under wraps, several potential directions are under consideration within the enthusiast community.
One strong possibility is a BMW M2 counterpart to the M3 CS Handschalter. Alternatively, BMW could apply the all-wheel-drive M xDrive system to the CS badge, bringing it in line with the M3 CS and M4 CS.
Other rumours point to a heavily packaged M Performance special edition featuring factory carbon-fibre aero bits, or an uncompromising, lightweight M2 CSL halo model.
With G87 production scheduled to run through July 2029, BMW has ample time to roll out its final send-off.
