Although an official confirmation remains pending, according to fresh reports, Porsche is planning to discontinue the Taycan EV by 2030 at the latest.
Porsche management and the company’s works council have agreed in principle to phase out the flagship electric sedan rather than proceed with earlier plans to relocate its assembly line from Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen to Leipzig.
The report comes on the heels of a sharp decline in Taycan demand. Global deliveries dropped from roughly 41,000 units in 2023 to around 16,000 in 2025—and just 6,000 units in the first half of 2026.
Buyers within the brand’s electric portfolio are increasingly opting for the newer Macan EV, while luxury consumers continue shifting away from low-slung sport sedans in favour of high-riding SUVs.
