2027 Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 early prototype spotted in the US

Testing of the 2027 Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 is underway. An early prototype of the performance sedan has been spotted in the US.

We can clearly see in the spy shots that the prototype isn’t fully disguised. Instead, it’s wearing camouflage only at the front and rear ends. This suggests that Mercedes is planning to implement changes in these areas only.

At the front, the 2027 Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 prototype has a prominent grille with vertical slats. The three-pointed star will sit in the middle; however, for now it’s been left black. We can also see the vertical slat design of the front grille being kind of carried over to the lower portion of the bumper. A closer look at the front end hints that the bumper design has been tweaked as well, perhaps to integrate more aerodynamic contours.

The rear end looks stunning with the large taillamps with LED lighting. There is also what seems to be an integrated and subtle boot spoiler. Apart from that, we can also spot two exhaust outlets. The bumper is also expected to get some alterations.

As for performance, the 2027 Mercedes-AMG CLE 63 is likely to be powered by the brand’s new flat-plane crank V8 engine. Currently doing duties in the latest S-Class, this 4.0L unit makes 530 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. It would be tuned differently to handle the responsibilities on the new CLE 63.
