Mercedes-AMG is sharpening the look of its latest coupe with the new CLE 53 Coupe Edition R. It’s not about more power this time. Instead, the focus is on design, presence, and a richer equipment list.
The changes are immediately noticeable. Up front, the CLE 53 Coupe Edition R gets a more aggressive bumper with added side flicks, while the rear features a gloss black finish and a larger lip spoiler. The standard wheels are swapped for matte black 20-inch alloys with a machined edge, paired with striking red AMG brake calipers.
These updates build on the existing AMG Night Package and Night Package II. That means a darkened grille, black chrome badging, high-gloss black mirror caps, and black chrome exhaust finishers.
Inside, the changes include AMG Performance seats in Nappa leather, a redesigned steering wheel with microfibre grips, and red seatbelts. You also get a head-up display, Burmester sound system, and the latest MBUX setup.
Mechanically, things remain the same. The 3.0-litre turbocharged inline-six continues to deliver 330 kW (442 hp) and 560 Nm (413 lb ft) through a nine-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. It’s good for 0–100 km/h (0-62 mph) in just 4.2 seconds.
