Lamborghini’s next model would be a 4-seater hybrid GT car, no manual

Lamborghini is working on a new car, and it’s one that might surprise all of us. According to CEO Stephan Winkelmann, the brand’s next big move will be a fourth model line: a four-seater hybrid GT designed to sit alongside the current trio of the Lamborghini Urus, Temerario, and Revuelto.

“We have a project for the fourth model,” says Winkelmann. “We have four models in the future, and this fourth model is going to be a GT car, so a two-plus-two, two-door car, but with a different body style. We have cool ideas which we’re working on.”

One thing it won’t have, however, is a manual gearbox. Despite renewed interest sparked by cars like the Ferrari 12Cilindri Manuale, Winkelmann made it clear: Lamborghini has no intention of going down that route. “What we do is that we focus on the big tickets,” says Winkelmann.

He further adds, “Now, we have three models, and we have a derivativization strategy. On top of that, we’re investing in the future on a fourth model, so it’s important to keep the focus on what is really key for the company, and therefore we are focusing on this.”

The next Lamborghini model line is most likely to feature a hybrid powertrain, but not for the reasons you might expect. Hybridisation, according to Lamborghini, isn’t about chasing emissions targets alone—it’s about performance. Instant torque, improved efficiency, and the ability to deliver a consistent global product all play a role.

“At this time we are doing the hybridisation, and we have a lot on our plate and in the pipeline.” Winkelmann adds to this, “You have to decide what to do next, and you have to do it by knowing that you are doing a car which has to be sold worldwide. So we cannot regionalise our product, because everybody who buys a Lamborghini wants the original, and on top of that, the hybridisation for us is a booster of performance and not only an opportunity to reduce CO2.”
