Automation is becoming a big part of today’s automotive space. However, Ferrari is choosing to hold its ground. CEO Benedetto Vigna has made it unequivocally clear that the Prancing Horse will not venture into fully autonomous territory.
In a recent interview, Vigna dismissed the idea of Level 3+ autonomy, emphasising that Ferrari’s core philosophy remains unchanged. “We will not make fully autonomous cars – loud and clear. We want people to have fun, not the chips,” he stated.

For Ferrari, the driving experience isn’t a feature – it’s the entire point. Vigna reinforced that every car wearing the badge will continue to have a steering wheel and, more importantly, a driver fully in control. “Otherwise, why do you buy a Ferrari?” he added.

Interestingly, this comes shortly after the unveiling of the Ferrari Luce, the company’s first all-electric model, which has sparked mixed reactions among purists. Yet, Vigna insists electrification is about expanding choice, not replacing tradition. “We have IC (internal combustion), we have the hybrid, and we have the electric. Full stop. Then the client can pick up whatever they want,” he explained.
