Mercedes-AMG has officially opened order books for the new electric GT 4-Door Coupe. Offered in two flavours, the AMG GT 55 and the range-topping GT 63, it’s a full-blown electric version of what an AMG should feel like. It is expected to arrive in showrooms by the end of this year.
For the first time in a production AMG, axial flux electric motors make their debut – two mounted at the rear, one up front. In its most extreme form, the GT 63 produces a staggering 1153 hp. The numbers are outrageous. 0 to 62 mph takes just 2 seconds. Double that speed? Done in 6.4. Flat out, with the optional AMG Driver’s Package, it’ll touch 186 mph.

With a claimed peak rate of 600 kW, Mercedes-AMG says you can add more than 286 miles of range in just 10 minutes. A 10–80% top-up takes around 11 minutes, thanks to enhanced cooling via the Performance Charging Package.
And then there’s the character. The new AMGFORCE S+ mode of the GT 4-Door Coupe attempts to recreate the sound of a V8, complete with simulated sound, throttle mapping, and even artificial shift interruptions.
