The Audi Q9 was previewed earlier this month, giving us a look at its plush interior. Since it is going to be the German brand’s most luxurious SUV to date, naturally, there were going to be talks about a Mercedes-Maybach GLS rivalling Horch variant. However, Audi has put the speculations to rest.
Speaking at a preview of the Q9, Audi CEO Gernot Dollner dismissed the speculations with a clear response: there are no plans for a Horch version of the SUV. That said, the standard Q9 isn’t exactly holding back.

Audi is positioning it as its most luxurious SUV yet, and the cabin reflects that ambition. There’s a massive panoramic sliding roof – the largest ever fitted to an Audi – paired with a 22-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system. Digital climate controls sit within the touchscreen, while materials range from fine leather to cloth and leatherette, layered with subtle carbon fibre accents.

Tech and convenience take a big step forward, too. Electric doors are a nice touch, even allowing the driver’s door to close via the brake pedal. You also get MagSafe-style wireless charging integrated into the centre console. While a bench seat comes standard, plush captain chairs would be offered, too.
