Jaguar Type 01 is the final name of the brand’s upcoming electric GT. This was made official earlier this month, and now, the 1000 hp EV has been spotted in Monaco.
Fresh spy shots show a camouflaged prototype prowling the streets, wrapped in a striking red-and-black disguise. It looks as radical as before with its sleek LED DRLs and flat front end. The overall proportions of the vehicle are huge and perhaps rightly so because it is going to be an electric grand tourer.
As for the nomenclature, “0” marks its zero-emission DNA, while “1” hints at the first in a new all-electric lineage, and more importantly, the “Type” badge reconnects this EV to legends like the Jaguar E-Type and Jaguar F-Type.
What we know so far in context to the specs is that the Jaguar Type 01 will have a tri-motor setup pushing out over 1000 hp and more than 959 lb ft of torque. Based on the Jaguar Electric Architecture, it will feature a 120 kWh battery pack that will offer a range of over 400 miles. New reports say that Jaguar will officially unveil the Type 01 during the third quarter of this year.
