The British marque Caterham has begun testing its electric sports car called Project V. The company has released fresh footage of the prototype out on the circuit, being pushed through real-world testing.

First seen as a concept at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2023, the Caterham Project V has steadily evolved into something far more tangible. The prototype, previously showcased at the Tokyo Auto Salon earlier this year, stays largely true to the original design, but with a few notable tweaks.

Round rear lights replace the earlier polygonal units, while the steering setup has been simplified. Inside, it now packs four seats instead of the concept’s quirky three-seat layout.

Powered by an electric motor sourced from Yamaha, the Project V is targeting 268 bhp. Not outrageous on paper, but the EV is expected to sit around 3,153 lbs, and 0-62 mph should come in under five seconds. Range is pegged at 249 miles, with a rapid 20-80% charge in just 20 minutes.
