Hypercar maker Koenigsegg looking to raise money via IPO

Swedish hypercar maker Koenigsegg Automotive AB could go public. According to a media report, the company, founded by Christian von Koenigsegg, is considering an initial public offering (IPO).

Last year, Koenigsegg was converted into a public limited company. In 2024, over 6% of the stake was sold to Chieftain Capital Management for $58 million.

In a recent interview, CEO Halldora von Koenigsegg stated that an IPO was on the table, but no timeline had been set. “A listing could offer a more diversified choice of funding sources,” Halldora said. “We think we can be self-financing over time, but opportunities might come that we don’t foresee,” she added.

However, Halldora insisted that this doesn’t mean she and her husband are looking for an exit.

Christian von Koenigsegg founded the company in 1994. Halldora joined after the two got married in 2000. Over the years, the company has expanded, and today, it employs 850 people. Last year, it delivered 56 cars and has more than 400 cars on order.
