$9.5 million wreck! LaFerrari & McLaren Elva crashed in Austria
Earlier this month, a drive through the picturesque Austrian countryside turned into a tragedy for four Swiss supercar owners. A LaFerrari, a McLaren Elva, an 812 Superfast and a Bentley Continental GTC were part of a convoy of supercars when they crashed into each other, in what is being described as one of the most expensive wrecks.
The supercars were driving down a mountain road, and according to reports, the LaFerrari braked suddenly before a hairpin bend and rammed into the McLaren Elva. The 812 Superfast driver was caught off guard and slammed into the LaFerrari before being hit by a black Continental GTC.
The LaFerrari is by far the most expensive among the four supercars that crashed out. It is estimated to cost around $7 million, while the Elva costs about $1.8 million. The combined value of all four cars that crashed comes to around $9.5 million.
The local police are investigating the accident and will be checking if the drivers had violated any rules. The investigators will also check whether a safe distance was being maintained between the cars as they were descending the mountain pass.
