A group of exotic cars, including Lamborghini and Mercedes-Benz models, has ended up in police custody after officers in Greater Manchester received reports of dangerous and anti-social driving on the M66.

The incident took place on Wednesday night, September 2, with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) saying its Transport Policing and Crime Command team received multiple complaints about the group. The reported behaviour included speeding, weaving between lanes and performing burnouts.

There was also an unusual complaint. Police said the drivers were travelling at just 17 mph, slowing traffic and creating further problems for other motorists.

Officers eventually stopped the group and seized five Lamborghini supercars along with a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon under Section 59 of the Police Reform Act 2002. The legislation allows police to seize vehicles being used in a manner that causes alarm, distress or annoyance, and a prior warning is not always required.
