2025 Mercedes-AMG E53 debuts with a 603 hp 6-cylinder hybrid
Mercedes-AMG has revealed its latest high-performance model based on the E-Class, the E53. It is available in saloon and estate body styles and a 6-cylinder hybrid powertrain under the hood.
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG E53 features an aggressive design with an AMG-specific grille up front, wider fenders and quad exhausts at the back. Mercedes has also made some changes to the chassis. It has a wider front track, stiffer chassis and bigger brakes.
Powering the E53 is a 6-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 443 hp. It is paired with an electric motor mounted inside the gearbox casing that adds another 161 hp, for a total output of 577 hp. The full 603 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque is only available during launch control.
Mercedes claims a 0-62 mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 174 mph when equipped with the optional AMG Driver’s Package. Being a plug-in hybrid, the E53 packs a 21.22 kWh battery pack that has enough juice to cover 62 miles in EV mode.
The 2025 Mercedes-AMG E53 sedan will go on sale in the US later this year. The E53 wagon is unlikely to hit American shores.
