2015 Corvette Z06 crashes during testing

[Update] A 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 has crashed at the Nurburgring while testing. This makes it the first reported C7 Corvette Z06 crash.

GM has revealed some more information about the upcoming Corvette Z06 which arrives in showrooms next year. It is based on the C7 Corvette Stingray and could perhaps be the last of the front-engine Corvettes before the C8 comes along with a mid-engine setup. The 2015 Corvette Z06 is priced at $78,995 for the base coupe, while the convertible version would cost you $83, 995. The Z07 performance package will cost a little extra.

GM has also published the official 0-60 mph and quarter-mile sprint times of the new Corvette Z06. The supecharged V8 powered Corvette gains enough momentum to take it from 0-60 mph in just 2.95 seconds. The quarter mile comes up in 10.95 seconds at 127 mph. Now, these figures were clocked using the 8-speed automatic. If you go for the seven-speed manual, the Z06 will hit 60 mph in 3.2 seconds and the quarter mile in 11.2 seconds at 127 mph.

Meanwhile, the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was spotted testing at the Nurburgring recently and looking at the video, we do think GM could be gunning for a quick lap time at the fabled race track. Scroll past to watch the video.
