Mercedes-AMG SL 65 : More Details
This particular example is finished in silver with a black interior. The insides come with rich Napa leather and Alcantara. Further, the seats get gray inserts and the driver can see conventional analogue instrument clusters with red needles. The speedometer is marked upto 224 mph.
The cabin also gets ample carbon fiber trim and lightweight door panel units.
This car was first sold in Kuwait, where the current owner picked her up and registered in the UK in 2019. The last service was recorded back in March 2023 with new boot struts and an oil change along with a new filter was done as well.
Powertrain of the SL 65
This car came from an age where larger displacement engines were the norm. The AMG units were offered with 6.2-litre V8 – eg the C63 and the E63 variants. Meanwhile the SL 65 came with a 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 power plant. It pushed out 661 HP and 738 lb-ft of peak torque. Power was sent to the rear wheels, making it one of the most powerful rear wheel drive sports cars. Further, an older 5-speed automatic transmission was used as the latest 7-speed gearbox was unable to handle the high torque from the motor.
Mercedes claimed a 0-62 mph time of 3.8 seconds with a top speed just under 199 mph. However, the SL 65 was truly known for its characteristics. The car would easily flash the traction control light due to its powerful engine and aggressive power delivery.
