The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170 has a major crankshaft issue that could lead to serious engine damage.
According to reports, Dodge is preparing a Customer Service Notice for the 2023 Demon 170. A total of 345 units have been identified with a faulty crankshaft damper, which could trigger unusual noise from the engine and cause damage. If the issue isn’t rectified immediately, it could cause “catastrophic engine damage”, CEO Matt McAlear warned.
Dodge has already notified the owners of the affected vehicles to get their vehicles inspected at their nearest authorised dealership. The company has also recommended that owners not drive their Demon 170s until the issue is rectified.
The Demon 170 is powered by the Hellephant C170 engine. It’s a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 that makes 1025 hp at 6500 rpm and 945 lb-ft of torque, enabling the car to sprint from 0-60 mph in 1.66 seconds and cross the 1/4 mile in 8.91 seconds at 151.17 mph.
