Ferrari 250 GTO auctioned for $38.5 million; fails to beat 2018 record
When Mecum Auctions announced that a Ferrari 250 GTO would be offered at the Kissimmee event, expectations were high. We thought we might see another record auction sale. Well, records were indeed broken, except in the case of the 250 GTO.
The final price for this rare white 250 GTO 3729GT was $38.5 million. Way less than the previous record of $70 million that was paid by David MacNeil in 2018.

There are several reasons why this 250 GTO didn’t cross the $50 million mark. While it may be the only example painted in Bianco from the factory, it has been changed numerous times. Also, it no longer has its original engine.

‘The Bianco Speciale’ was first delivered back in 1962 to John Coombs in England. It featured in several prestigious events until 1964, when it entered the highest level of international competition for the final time.
