Fernando Alonso spotted in his $11 million Mercedes CLK-GTR in Monaco
Formula 1 champ Fernando Alonso is currently enjoying the holidays in Monaco. He even has a new supercar to ferry him around town – a Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Strassenversion. He was spotted driving around the principality with his girlfriend in his $11 million Mercedes this Christmas.
The CLK-TR is an ultra-rare homologation special that was built during the glorious GT1 era. Only 28 cars were produced, including 20 coupes and 6 roadsters.
The CLK-GTR is based on the CLK-GTR Le Mans race car. It is powered by a 6.9-liter V12 engine that produces 622 hp @ 6500 rpm and 539 lb-ft of torque @ 5250 rpm. The motor is paired with a 6-speed sequential manual transmission via a carbon-fibre clutch. The car is capable of accelerating from 0-62 mph in just 3.8 seconds and can reach 200 mph.
The roadsters, being rarer, are more valuable. Recently, a CLK-GTR Roadster valued at $13 million was seized by the FBI in Los Angeles.
