Czinger 21C beats Koenigsegg again; sets new Laguna Seca lap record
The Czinger 21C has set yet another lap record at Laguna Seca, reclaiming the crown from Koenigsegg.
The Czinger beat the previous lap time set by the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear last month. The 21C went around the racetrack in 1 min 22.30 seconds, compared to the Koenigsegg’s 1 min 24.16 second lap.
The 21C is powered by a mid-mounted, 2.88-liter, twin-turbo V8 engine coupled with an 800 V electric drive. The electric motor drives the front wheels, while the petrol engine powers the rear axle. The combined output is a meaty 1350 hp.
Its rival from Sweden packs a twin-turbo V8 engine, which delivers 1625 hp on E85 fuel. The Sadair’s Spear weighs 35 kg less than the standard Jesko, improving its power-to-weight ratio beyond 1:1.
With the record broken, the ball is now in Koenigsegg’s court. I’m sure they will be back to challenge Czinger soon.
