Alfa Romeo is taking aim at one of the biggest trends in modern car interiors: giant infotainment screens. The brand’s design boss, Alejandro Mesonero-Romanos, believes oversized displays are increasingly dictating dashboard design instead of simply serving the driver.
Mesonero-Romanos argued that automakers should “get rid of the screens” and criticised the industry’s race to fit ever-larger displays into their cars.

He also questioned the logic behind this “war of centimetres”. Technology moves quickly, and a huge screen that looks impressive today could soon feel outdated, potentially leaving owners with an expensive piece of obsolete hardware.
The Alfa Romeo Cuorerosso concept offers an interesting glimpse at the alternative. Unveiled at the Paris Motor Show, the fastback features a cleaner cabin where technology doesn’t dominate the dashboard.

Mesonero-Romanos still sees a place for infotainment screens, but wants them to be less intrusive. His idea is simple: have a screen when you need it, then hide it when you don’t.
