Mercedes F1 driver George Russell has been enjoying some off-track action ahead of the United States Grand Prix, putting the all-electric Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door Coupe through its paces in a couple of videos.
In one clip, Russell is seen performing a massive burnout, while another shows him pulling off donuts that leave thick clouds of white tyre smoke and a near-perfect circle of rubber marks on the ground. It’s a fun demonstration of what the electric performance machine can do when the driver isn’t chasing lap times.
The range-topping GT 63 version of the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe packs a staggering 1,153 hp and 1,475 lb-ft of torque. Mercedes claims it can sprint from 0-60 mph in just two seconds, putting it firmly in hypercar territory for straight-line performance.
The electric coupe is based on the AMG.EA platform and uses an 800-volt electrical architecture. Mercedes has also recently revealed the AMG GT SUV, which shares its powertrain with the four-door coupe.
