Dubai Police have issued 7,735 traffic fines and impounded 1,630 vehicles during the first nine months of this year as part of a crackdown on excessive noise and unauthorised vehicle modifications.
Of the total offences, 2,045 involved excessive vehicle noise, resulting in 333 vehicles being impounded. Another 5,690 violations concerned illegal engine or chassis modifications, leading to 1,297 vehicles being taken off the road.

According to Dubai Police, modified exhausts and engines on cars and motorcycles can create significant disturbance for residents. Authorities are therefore increasing inspections and traffic monitoring to identify offenders.
The penalties are not insignificant. Excessive vehicle noise carries a Dh2,000 fine and 12 black points, while illegal engine or chassis modifications attract a Dh1,000 fine, 12 black points and a 30-day impoundment.
