Lexus is making a change to its three-row TX SUV for 2027. The TX 550h+ plug-in hybrid will not return after the 2026 model year, leaving buyers with two powertrain choices instead of three.
The TX 350 remains the conventional option, using a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. For buyers wanting some electrification, the TX 500h continues as the hybrid choice and comes exclusively with all-wheel drive.

The TX 500h also uses the 2.4-litre engine, but adds a 64kW front electric motor and a 76kW rear eAxle to create its all-wheel-drive system.
The decision is interesting because the TX 550h+ was the most electrified version of the three-row SUV. Introduced for the 2024 model year, it combined plug-in hybrid technology with the practicality of the TX.

For 2027, however, Lexus is simplifying the range while giving the rest of the lineup a modest refresh. Customers will still have a choice between petrol power and a conventional hybrid, but those wanting the TX’s plug-in capability will have to look elsewhere.
