Porsche has ruled out a fully electric version of the recently revealed Mission S, despite the brand continuing to invest heavily in EV technology.
Speaking about the new mid-engine supercar platform, Porsche CEO Michael Leiters was clear about the company’s position: “There won’t be a BEV on that platform because there is no demand, in this segment, for an EV there.”

That doesn’t mean Porsche is giving up on electric cars. Instead, the company appears to believe that buyers in this particular segment want the sound, response and character that come with a combustion engine.
Of course, saying there is no demand doesn’t mean nobody would buy an electric Porsche supercar. It simply suggests Porsche doesn’t see enough interest to justify developing one for this platform.

Interestingly, the platform remains flexible. Leiters has previously said it can accommodate both combustion and hybrid powertrains, while customers could potentially choose between a traditional manual and a PDK-style automatic transmission.
