Mercedes-Benz is recalling 30,064 luxury sedans in the US after discovering that a front brake hose can weaken over time and eventually leak or rupture.

The recall covers certain S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach and Mercedes-AMG models built between February 2021 and November 2024, covering the 2022 through 2025 model years. According to Mercedes and the NHTSA, no crashes, injuries or property damage have been linked to the problem so far.

The S580 4Matic makes up the biggest portion of the recall, with 16,881 cars affected. It is followed by 7,143 S500 4Matic models and 2,277 S580e 4Matic plug-in hybrids. The affected population also includes 1,746 AMG S63 E Performance, 1,070 Maybach S680 and 947 Maybach S580 sedans.

Heat and mechanical stress can weaken the hose material, potentially allowing brake fluid to escape near the front calipers. Dealers will replace the affected hoses free of charge, with owner notification letters scheduled to arrive from November 27, 2026.
